Resilience and Perseverance

Perseverance is the ability to continue pushing forward towards your goal, even when faced with difficulties or setbacks. When it’s time to kick butt you don’t give up, even when things get tough.

AI describes resilience as the ability to adapt well in the face of adversity, trauma, tragedy, threats, or significant sources of stress. It's the capacity to "bounce back" from difficult experiences. At ICONS we say it’s the ability to get back up and keep fighting for what you want in sport.

At such a young age, one the hardest parts of sport is not giving up. To ask for help when needed, or ask for a break.

Nearly every professional athlete has had to close their eyes and dig to the deepest parts of their souls to find the courage, motivation, will and desire to push through and continue in the sport they love. Check out their stories below for motivation and understand. Always remember:
